Patrol Division

The Uniform Patrol Division operates under the Enforcement Bureau and is the largest and most visible function of the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office and is under the command of Captain James “Bubba” Mercier. Each shift is supervised by a Lieutenant, Sergeant, and Corporal. The Deputy Sheriffs assigned to this division provide proactive patrol and emergency law enforcement services to the citizens of McIntosh County and the City of Darien 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Uniform Patrol Division patrols and responds to all calls for service within the 574 square mile radius of McIntosh County, of which 424 square miles is land and 150 square miles is water. McIntosh County is divided into three (3) patrol zones. Each zone is determined by population density, geographical layout, and calls for service so that Deputies remain strategically deployed throughout all county areas.
