Sheriff King's career in public safety spans 33 years with the Georgia State Patrol, where he rose through the ranks from Cadet to Major and served in numerous leadership positions throughout the state.
During his career, Sheriff King served in key command roles, including Troop Commander and Director of Capitol Police, gaining extensive experience in law enforcement operations, personnel management, public safety, and organizational leadership. His years of service provided him with a strong foundation in professional policing and prepared him to lead an agency committed to serving both its citizens and its employees.
A graduate of Morehouse College, Sheriff King has built his career around the principles of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and service. He believes effective law enforcement extends beyond enforcing the law and depends upon developing strong relationships and maintaining the trust of the community.

Sheriff King became Sheriff of McIntosh County in January 2025, bringing with him a vision for a professional, community-focused, and forward-thinking Sheriff’s Office. His leadership emphasizes employee development, modern law enforcement practices, accountability, transparency, and meaningful partnerships with the citizens and communities the agency serves.
